Up and up and up!

Coldplay. Wembley Stadium. Yes, yes, yes...but at the same time, no, no, no!

Whilst I was filled with a sense of excitement and nervous energy at the thought of hearing some of my favourite life anthems being blasted around the stadium, I could not help but feel disappointed by the reality of queuing for a sub standard coffee and what can only be described as a night club peeing experience!

Those horrors survived and with stray loo paper removed from my trainers, we take our seats for the much awaited main event.

The dots in front of us were just that, dots on the horizon hopping around in slightly delayed real-time, no doubt due to the long distance between us - either way the sound was good and before too long we were singing along and swaying to some classic Coldplay.

Right, I thought, grumpy time over, this is what its all about...feeling part of something bigger, overcoming our differences, being around different generations, cultures, standards of hygiene and united by the love of music....

Which was all going swimmingly, until I became increasingly aware of the sticky floor from a spilled beer behind me, the constant need to get up and down to allow drunk people to get get more drink and the lack of view of the already microscopic dots due to the ignorant millennials in front of me who seem to have spent more time taking selfies than actually watching the show....

...and so, grumpy time returned, with full blown force and after a few muffled tuts and hmpfs I suddenly came to the sobering realisation that I was getting old!

A nice coffee, a good book, a long walk, Radio 4, early morning tea and birds singing at the weekend....all of this at the top of my wish list, with booze, spontaneity and late nights very much at the bottom if not missing!
